Still the year of February…
June 3rd, 2011

In my attempt to make February last all year, here is a quote by Bern Williams…If a June night could talk, it would probably boast it invented romance.

Ah, romance…everyone get out there and enjoy the weather with someone you like!

I’ll be going on vacation in Mid-June and hopefully I’ll have more to talk about after…I know I’ve been slacking.

More old stuff…
May 20th, 2011

Here is some older stuff…thought I’d finally post it.  These are all one off pieces…and I probably won’t make another one of these unless there’s a really special reason.

Here they are… zombie hand, Atari Joystick, Wii remote, and glow in the dark terrarium.   The electronics and zombie hand were from a few years back.  The terrarium was more recent.  The little guy and the white specks on the ground glow in the dark!

Enjoy!

Spring Animals and a Gold Tooth
May 20th, 2011

I just realised I hadn’t posted pictures of these spring animals that are now awaiting adoption at Kid Icarus!

It is finally spring here in Toronto and these cute little bunnies and chicks bring Spring cheer.  I have to admit, it was difficult parting with them.

Also I had made a gold tooth.  I may switch out the yarn as this was kind of stretchy, meaning you can see his insides (i.e. stuffing).

Enjoy!  There’s more on my flickr account.

Beets
May 11th, 2011

I kept an open mind for years with regards to beets.  At first, I thought it was such a strange food.  Like, how is it a vegetable and sweet, but not really sweet.  My palate just wasn’t ready for it.

Then over the years, I gave it a few more tries although only in canned form.  I thought I had made peace with beets, but then last week, I made this soup and somehow decided that putting beets in was a good idea.

I was very very wrong.

They get one more chance, and only as fresh vegetables until I’m ready to write them off for good.

Burning the Candle at Both Ends
May 5th, 2011

I was talking to a friend of mine who is a total workaholic.  He pushes himself to the brink and it’s insane!  So, I was inspired to make these double-ended candles in his honour.

Part of my resolution to make more things.  Man, May is shaping up to be better already!

Hello to May!
May 2nd, 2011

So, the rest of April did not redeem itself, but May, even though only 2 days in, already seems lighter and more promising!

I’ve got high hopes for this month.  Looking to be inspired and to make a lot of things happen that are only on my list right now.  I want this to be a month of progress!  I am going to strive to make more things, which also means more pictures!

April Contemplations
April 24th, 2011

ugh…so it’s been a while since an update and frankly, things have been fairly underwhelming in April.  This is possibly the worst April yet of my life…since I don’t usually remember this month.  It has one week to redeem itself.

This month has been a combination of poorly executed  interactions with people and general disarray.  Plans going not as planned…high hopes being quashed…lots of ups and downs happening in quick succession, and not getting my way due to one reason or another.  This is in almost every aspect of my life, too!  Like, what is going on?!  I have one shred of hope left on a work decision that is totally out of my hands, but could have enormous promise, so I’m still keeping my fingers crossed there.

I blame it all on my planets, but really, I need to heed them and work with them.  All that being said, I have, however managed to salvage a bit of fun.  Here are some photos from things around town this month that brought a bit of joy to me.

Firstly, I saw an interestingly coloured squirrel!  It was like a gradient from black to brown, so I’m calling it gradient squirrel.  Super cute.

Also cute are the plump little sparrows looking for food.  These guys were so tame it almost seemed like they were posing for me.  Even standing in a neat, evenly spaced line. :)

Next is the the fun sign I saw in someone’s car window.  Amusing, but intentional.  I decided to take a photo of it anyway.

Lastly, I was at a coffee shop where there were dispensers for milk and cream.  They didn’t have one for smiley faces even though the sign said so!

The word “Legit”
April 19th, 2011

I’ve been noticing recently that a lot of people have been using and overusing the word “legit” as a descriptor.  Most of these people I hear saying it are younger and I’m convinced that it’s the new hot word this year!

Nautical Necklaces
April 13th, 2011

Just a quick post of some nautical necklaces that I made.  I feel like something is missing…but can’t put my finger on it!  I think they’re still good enough to wear though.

The maroon one is my own design.  Was just messing around with knots and this asymmetrical beauty came from it!

The Sweetest Squirrels…
April 7th, 2011

Not quite a full-on post on love and romance, but yesterday I was walking around town and spotted these two spring squirrels sitting together.  It was the sweetest thing I’ve seen in a long time!

A black squirrel and a grey squirrel sitting together in the middle of a patch of grass, just being together.

Just makes my heart melt! :)
